If you're interested in private violin lessons at one of my South Austin studio locations, please call me at 585-9724.

I play all styles of violin for all sorts of occasions - from classical music for weddings and special occasions (Guitar and Violin, String Quartets, Trios, Duets, Solo Violin) to recording sessions to performances with bands. Call me at (512) 585-9724.

I played over 100 performances last year, mostly with classical ensembles at weddings and private parties, or in rock clubs late at night.
My MySpace page usually has the current run-down.

Phil Davidson is an active violin teacher and performer in Austin, TX. He received his B.A. in Music from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He is a Suzuki specialist, with teacher training registered through book 4. He maintains Suzuki violin and viola teaching studios at his home in South Austin and at the Armstrong Community Music School of the Austin Lyric Opera. Phil's teaching emphasizes development of functional instrumental abilities, including playing by ear, good practice habits, critical thinking, theory, history, observation and listening to a wide variety of music. He particularly enjoys teaching young beginners. Lately most of his new students have been adult beginners or kids ages 4-8.

Beyond his primary focus of being a professional music educator, Phil performs over 100 times a year in the Austin area. A former member of the Des Moines Symphony and Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra, he also was concertmaster of the Drake Symphony Orchestra. Since moving to Austin in 2002, Phil has decided to focus on chamber music of all sorts. Phil plays everything from Dowland to Piazzolla with classical guitarist Sean Behrens in the Chanterelle Duo, performs the rock-and-roll Nutcracker and more with the Invincible Czars, is in the rock band Mostly Dead and the bluegrass band The Old Holdouts. Phil's interests include supporting local businesses and musicians, vegetarianism, and progressive politics.
