Sean and Phil have 20+ years of combined experience playing solo and chamber music for weddings and events in Colorado, Iowa, and Texas. The two met through the Suzuki community of music teachers and began playing together with the hope of putting together a band to play original music... and instead discovered the joy and beauty of their acoustic instruments.
The Chanterelle Duo was formed in South Austin, TX, in 2005.
Sean Behrens-Classical Guitar
Sean Behrens (born 1970) of Austin, TX began music on the clarinet at age 11 and first purchased a guitar at age 17. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Colorado State University, where he studied with Masakazu Ito, and a Masters Degree in Guitar Performance from at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, where he studied with maestro Ricardo Iznaola.
Mr. Behrens, an avid music educator, finds that he gets the most satisfaction out of teaching children. In 2003, he founded the Behrens Guitar Studio, which specializes in the Suzuki approach on the classical guitar.
Phil Davidson-Violin
Phil Davidson (born 1980) of Austin, TX began violin at the age of 6. Having received a B.A. in Music from Drake University, where he studied with Misha Rosenker and Dr. Johnathan Sturm, Phil decided to focus on chamber music of all sorts. Currently active in Austin's classical, experimental, rock, and country music scenes, Phil also teaches a full studio of aspiring violinists using the Suzuki approach.
